Tijdens de euro-oes-show het laatste jaar in Belgie heb ik een seminar geleid getiteld "Concerning the oes". Ik heb daar aangegeven dat ik het een onaanvaardbare zaak vind dat zowel Amerika als Engeland bezig was de rasstandaard te veranderen zonder daarover met elkaar te overleggen. Ik heb hier over ook in het blad van Klaus Hornig een "hartekreet" geschreven met de volgende inhoud:

England and the USA are both changing the breed standard of our race and if they realise what they want, we are further from each other than ever before.
Please members of committee’s all over the world who are working or responsible for the breed standard of our breed. I think everybody who loves the breed is convinced that it is high time that you realise that we, in the world from today, more than ever before needed one breed standard for our OES.
The world is very small these days please skype, mail or phone with each other and start negotiation for one OES breedstandard. Judges are judging all over the world, breeders use each other dogs all over the world. Put a side your you national or organisation pride and give priority on your love for the breed. Thist is the only thing that counts isn’t ???.
Maybe this signal is now to late but it is never to late to take new initiatives.
You will do every responsible breeder in the world and the breed a great pleasure.

Een paar weken geleden kreeg daarover een hartverwarmende reactie van Nikki Chapman uit Zuid-Australie. Ze had het gelezen en was het er helemaal mee eens. Zij zou dat ter sprake brengen in haar club. Ze liet er geen gras over groeien en ik ontving een paar dagen geleden een mail van haar met de volgende tekst.
Good Morning, I attended an OES meeting last night and read out your ideas of a world breed standard and tail descriptions .And I had a captive audience and YES they all agreed that it should be world wide so the club is now sending your seminar notes to the National OES secretary for national opinion for discussion and voting. It will be along time coming but as you said we have to start somewhere to save the breed. Best wishes Nikki x
IS DAT NIET FANTASTISCH ???? Het zal wellicht lang duren maar er zijn gelukkig mensen die initiatief nemen !!!
